Reconnaissance Mission to the National Botanic Gardens of Wales

Last week, Matt and myself went on a reconnaissance mission to The National Botanic Gardens of Wales.  Our aim was to explore the area to find suitable locations for the sensors that will be monitoring and uploading our data, check wifi signals and brainstorm creative ideas.  There was a lot to explore as the gardens cover 568 acres of land and it hosts the worlds largest single-span glasshouse measuring 110m x 60m, however; we did find time to record some sound and image textures from inside the glasshouse.

  1. As a school we have visited the Botanic Gardens on many occasions but have not really ever listened to the sounds of the environment. We were very impressed and amazed by the sounds captured in the dome and can’t wait to record our own sounds from our school environment. We are looking forward to being involved in this fantastic project.
